Jane Tornga
Jane’s love of health and fitness comes from her days growing up as one of seven children in Chicago, Illinois. She
played varsity volleyball at GVSU in the early 1980’s. Love of the game and of working with
people sent Jane into coaching volleyball at the varsity high school level for 2 years and many years of coaching AAU volleyball
and conducting volleyball clinics at the middle and high school level.
After years of sports and competing, Jane decided to look for something that would balance
and care for her aging body. Pilates was becoming more mainstream in the fitness world and Jane decided
to take some classes to learn more about this mind/body form of exercise.
Jane trained through phi Pilates (formerly known as PowerHouse Pilates) out
of Pennsylvania. She has completed courses in Matwork I, Reformer I, Tower Training, Integrated Training, Wunda/Combo
Chair Training and Arc and Barrel Training. Other classes which she has taken include Stott Pilates
Foam Roller Challenge, Fitness Circle Flow and Ultimate Body Sculpting.
Jane has been teaching group exercise classes for more than 20
years and has been a member of the Aerobic and Fitness Association of America since 1997. Traveling to the Chicago area, Canada
and Seattle for fitness/pilates training and conferences is an important part of staying up to date on current trends and
new fitness findings. Continuing to further her education, Jane plans to continue her education with
balanced Body university.
Jane is pleased
to be working with Carolina and looks to her as a Pilates mentor. Jane states, “Carolina’s
knowledge and love of Pilates shines through in her work with clients and I look forward to learning more from her in the
future.”
